The Process
How KCI Works
Every transaction follows a structured, verification-led process. We don't rush introductions. We qualify, protect, align, and coordinate so that when parties connect, the commercial foundation is already in place.
From First Contact to Continuing Trade
The Four Phases
KCI manages the commercial pathway between buyers and sellers of physical commodities, each reviewed through our verification led process. Each phase builds on the last. Nothing advances until the previous stage is complete.
Qualify
Before anything moves forward, we establish who the parties are. This means confirming identity, corporate authority, operational capacity, and whether the requirement or supply opportunity is sufficiently defined to warrant the next step.
Not every inquiry advances. Some requirements aren't clearly defined. Some parties can't demonstrate authority over what they're offering or requesting. That's by design. Qualification protects everyone involved from wasted time and exposure.
We evaluate corporate registration, authorization to transact, product specifications, volume and delivery expectations, and the financial instruments the party is prepared to use.
Protect
Introductions and confidential commercial information are disclosed only through a controlled, documented process. Before any party learns who's on the other side of a potential transaction, written agreements are in place that define attribution, confidentiality, and the terms under which information was shared.
This is the phase most intermediaries skip, and it's the phase that costs them the most. Circumvention, undocumented introductions, and unprotected disclosures are the primary reasons deals collapse or relationships break down in this industry.
Protection agreements are executed before counterparty identities are exchanged. Every introduction is documented. Every disclosure is attributed.
Align
With both sides qualified and protected, we clarify the commercial terms. Specifications, quantities, delivery schedules, payment structures, inspection requirements, and commercial expectations are confirmed and compared before parties are connected.
The goal is to make sure that when a buyer and seller sit down together, they're working from the same set of facts. Misaligned expectations are the second most common reason transactions fail, after protection failures.
We verify specifications match, delivery timelines are realistic, payment instruments are compatible, and both parties understand the commercial structure before any direct introduction happens.
Coordinate
Once parties are introduced, KCI manages the commercial pathway as the transaction moves toward closing. This includes coordinating documentation, maintaining communication between parties, managing timelines, and ensuring the process stays on the agreed track.
Our role doesn't end at the introduction. We stay in the transaction through execution and, where the relationship supports it, through continuing trade. Repeat transactions between verified parties are where the real value in commodity brokerage is built.
KCI coordinates contract execution, documentation flow, payment instrument alignment, and ongoing communication. We don't handle funds or take title to goods. We manage the commercial process.
What Stays True at Every Phase
Operating Principles
Verification Before Introduction
No party receives access to a counterparty's identity, specifications, or commercial information until both sides have been qualified and written agreements are in place.
Documented Attribution
Every introduction is recorded and attributed. If a relationship originated through KCI, that origin is documented and protected regardless of how many transactions follow.
Commercial Neutrality
KCI doesn't take title to goods, hold transaction funds, or act as a principal. We're a commercial intermediary. Our role is the process, not the product.
The Business
How KCI Earns
KCI is a relationship-based commodity brokerage. We earn commissions on the transactions we facilitate. Our business is built on qualifying buyers and reviewing sellers through a verification led process, bringing them together through a protected process, and coordinating the commercial pathway until a deal closes.
We have a standardized commission structure that we apply to our transactions, whether you're on the buy side or the sell side. For independent agents who bring relationships to the table, the same standardized structure applies. Every party knows the terms before any introduction takes place.
This standardized approach exists because of the processes we've built and the relationships we've already established. The value is in the verification, the protection, and the coordination that makes transactions close and trade continue.
We don't charge upfront fees to submit a requirement, offer supply, or apply as an agent. We earn when a transaction closes.
Standardized commission model. No upfront fees. No retainers. We earn when deals close.
Common Questions
About the Process
It depends on the readiness of both parties. If a buyer and seller are both qualified, specifications are aligned, and payment instruments are in place, a transaction can move through the full process in weeks. More commonly, qualification and alignment take time, especially for first transactions between new parties. We don't rush the process to meet artificial timelines.
The process stops. We don't introduce parties that haven't been qualified, and we don't advance opportunities that aren't sufficiently defined. If a party can't demonstrate authority, capacity, or a clearly defined requirement, we'll explain what's missing and whether there's a path to re-engage.
Because most intermediaries and agents lose deals, and sometimes entire relationships, because introductions weren't properly documented. When a buyer and seller know each other's identity without a written framework protecting the introduction, there's nothing stopping them from transacting directly. The protection phase exists to prevent that, and it's the foundation everything else is built on.
No. KCI is a commercial intermediary. We don't take title to goods, don't hold client transaction funds, and don't act as a principal in any transaction. Our role is to manage the commercial process: qualification, protection, alignment, and coordination between buyers and sellers reviewed through our process.
KCI facilitates international B2B transactions across multiple commodity sectors, including edible oils and food grade products, base and precious metals, energy and petroleum products, and agricultural raw materials. The verification-led process is the same regardless of sector.
We structure our coverage around verticals rather than individual products, which means we can work across categories as opportunities arise. If you have a qualified requirement or verified supply in a physical commodity sector, the process applies.
Yes. Buyers and sellers each have their own submission process. If you operate on both sides, you can submit through both channels. Each submission is evaluated independently through the same qualification process.
